The "Immediate Relative" is an immigrant petition which allows some foreign nationals to apply for legal permanent residence in the United States on the basis of their familial relationship to a United States citizen. The primary befits of this type of application is that (1) Immediate relatives receive preferential treatment and are not subject to numerical quotas imposed on family preference categories; and (2) If the relative entered with a proper visa, he or she will be able to change status in the United States even if they overstayed their visa or worked without permission.

Who is eligible? Spouse of a U.S. citizen; parent or step-parent of a US citizen; child or stepchild under the age of 21 of a U.S. citizen and spouse of a deceased U.S. citizen. Note: A step-parent or child will qualify for immigration only if the marriage creating the step parent/child relationship occurs before the child's eighteenth birthday.

What Our Office Can Do For You:  We can explain clearly to you what to expect, how long it will take and what we have to prepare to succeed in the case in the fastest time. Our staff will go over every question in the applications with you, prepare the documentation, collect and review the supporting documents, file the case under the name of APSAN LAW OFFICES, prepare you prior to the interview and have a lawyer with you at the adjustment interview. If you are living in a state that is far from our offices, in New York and New Jersey, we will do the same, except will offer to either (1) go to the interview without a lawyer (and save over 70% in our fees) or (2) we will hire a layer near your home to go to the interview with you.
